It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich
He was one of the best players vs Norwich earlier in the season.

He can't be any worse than Cresswell who is completely past it

But we don't play with wingers.

Re: It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich
Masuaku is a decent player but he's not a full back. He's a winger made to play a defensive role that is not his game. I wouldn't write him off at this stage as I think Moyes sees him as that - a winger...

"Masuaku would tear up league one."

iI think we've seen how Masuaku reacts to players at "lesser" clubs being "arrogant" enough to outplay him.

He'd spend half his time being banned.

Re: It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich
When he came on he did sweet FA a few twinkle toes moves out on the line! Spent most of his time on the ball passing a short ball to Yarmalenko and getting it back! Should have been more adventurous and taken them on! Have a go if you think you’re good enough! He obviously doesn’t!

Masuaku would tear up league one.

But that's about it. That's his level.

Ngakia is still a free agent, although Schalke are said to be interested.

I suppose we've managed to burn all our bridges and will end up paying more in league position prize money (not just this season) and/or purchasing another player, than we would have by hanging onto him via an improved offer.

Totally agree. Fredricks was injured when they were first negotating his contract and Johnson was Recovering too. The longer it went on the less likley he was to sign.
Foolish beyond belief to let him go. It would of been better as we all know to let Fredricks go in the summer.

Re: It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich
Cresswell has never recovered from his injury in pre-season quite a while ago now. Not his fault but he also clearly isn't good enough anymore. It's an odd one because he never really relied on pace, perhaps it's a mental thing and he doesn't trust himself anymore and is hesitating on decisions. Either way his positioning has become a massive liability. His brief England days almost seem like a fever dream albeit coming after the injury which makes the whole excuse even shakier. Who knows what really happened - but these days he is done.

Masuaku however is not the answer. He never should be, in fact. I don't know enough about his early days to say for sure but he looks like a shit winger who became a full back by default. He doesn't have the brain for either. You can flick the ball over your head and look good in a 20 second Facebook video as much as you want, but being a consistent top level player demands much, much more.

Full back has been a sore spot (or two) for a long time. We have flitted between the hopeless and the 'look good for a while because they are merely competent anr used to the role' (Schemmel, Jacobsen, McCartney, Cresswell) for too long. I've been going since 1993 and I would still say the best left back I have seen is Dicks and the best right back Breacker. That is fucking sad.

Our fullback situation is appalling which makes the ngakia situation all the more rotten. I know there were"improved" terms for him but that ain't saying much from an academy contract.

He might not have pulled up trees but he was definitely better than what's currently on offer and I struggle to think where we'll find anything better on a free

Nah I fancy Cresswell being up for this with Ipswich being his former club.

Re: It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich

It's not a case of him having a one off bad game, that can happen to the best of us. He's been consistently useless for ages and the main reason for our goals against stats this season
Play anyone in his place, if we've only got Masuaka as an option , play him

Apart from against Arsenal at home when he had Pepe in his pocket, went of injured to be replaced by Masuaku who gave Pepe the freedom of the pitch and we lost the game.

I have no problem with someone being dropped and replaced but not by a player who is more likely to cost us a goal than the player he is replacing.

It is like Fabianski having a poor game and people shouting for Roberto to come in.

Masuaka shouldn’t be anywhere near our squad, either as a fb where he’s shit or an attacking winger where he’s ineffective! We should have got rid of him seasons ago!

Re: It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich
Cresswell was useless against Burnley, not only at fault for the goal but also gave the ball away to the opposition 19 times!
He's been useless for the last 3/4 seasons and should have been dumped ages ago
He wouldn't get into a local pub side
How people are actually saying that he shouldn't be dropped is quite beyond me
I haven't slagged off any of our players since I started supporting West Ham in 1963 but in his case I'll make an exception

The reason I wasn't as optimistic at the start of this season, as everyone else seemed to be, was that I knew our full backs were poor and couldn't believe that Cresswell in particular hadn't been replaced

Re: It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich
Mad Dog is correct. Going for Masuaku because of the defensive frailties of Cresswell is rather like putting Roberto in goal because Fabianski makes an error or two...

Re: It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich
Barry. Are you on crack or on a wind up?

Masuaku js fast. And thats about it. He can't pass, he can't dribble, he can't cross and most importantly he's an absolute fucking liability in defence.

He has the odd good game, followed by 9 shit ones.

Cresswell.is absolute garbage, but masuaku is a liability and even worse

I can't remember when I've seen a goal scored against us that wasn't a defensive error, a goalie error or a var error.

He does have more pace, but his first touch is often poor and his passing can be awful at times

Surpricing dagger

But he has more pace and links better with the midfield and attack

Re: It's time to start Masuaku vs Norwich
Chances created since August 2015:

Cresswell - 131 in 147 games
Masuaku - 45 in 76 games

He isn’t better going forward.
